Interactive atmospheric installation at site in Brunswick
Anima
Project Anima is an atmospheric intervention in a vacant plot nestled between the bike bath, derelict buildings and the train station. The focus of the objects was to amplify the ominous characteristics of the site. The staircase and doorbell designed aim to capture the passer-by’s curiosity, and lure them into engaging in a dialogue with the mysterious door in the wall, the stairs, bell and the great expanse between.
Was there once a staircase?
What was the door’s purpose, its history? What’s going on behind it now?
As you walk by, the staircase captures your eye, and by walking up you notice the bell. Pressing it triggers a chime of overlayed bike bells, followed by the sound of clutter and footsteps drawing closer and closer until they stop. But the sound doesn’t come from the bell, it sounds as though its coming from the door. The doorbell helps to link the external site to the many worlds which could be occurring behind the door.
footsteps approach..
A mug is placed down…
A hesitant pause….
